Concours of Elegance

For over half a millenia Hampton Court Palace, situated in the Royal Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames, has entertained and welcomed Kings, Queens, noble people in all their finery. The grade one listed palace formed a fitting backdrop and stage for the luxurious and historic Concours of Elegance that took place on the sixth of September which was attended by Director Priti Kotecha and dispensing optician Stephen Bates.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Concours of Elegance brings together the world’s finest cars and this year was no exception with many of the featured cars never before seen in the UK appearing on the hallowed grounds. After taking in the sights and sounds of Norfolk, from a private tour of Sandringham to Lotus HQ at Hethel, the extraordinary cavalcade of classics, led by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, wound its way to Hampton Court Palace. Taking place across three days the gardens at Hampton Court Palace hosted over 300 of the finest and rarest motor cars ever to be seen. The event featured a Royal Warrant Holders Association area, marquees for the guests to take stock and enjoy the sights with a refreshing glass of something and a ‘Best of Show’ ceremony. Uniquely, the Concours of Elegance winner isn’t selected by a panel of judges but by the owners of the cars themselves. Each participant is asked to vote on the other models on display to decide which car is considered to be the ‘Best of Show’.

Complementing the Concours of Elegance will be displays of hundreds of other fine motor cars, including entrants to The Club Trophy. Now in its fourth year, The Club Trophy sees some of the UK’s most prestigious car clubs offering up their finest examples to an independent panel of judges. The winning Club Trophy car will secure a place in the following year’s main Concours of Elegance event.

Priti and Stephen happily explored the grounds of the palace and marvelled at the wonderful display of fine motor cars on show. Highlights of the cars for Priti included the more classic cars from the 1930’s whilst Stephen’s hear was firmly set on the 90s supercars that dazzled the attendees.

On behalf of all at the practice, both Sptehen and Priti would like to thank the Royal Warrant Holders Association for their invitation and a warm congratulations to the Concours of Excellence for their wonderful event.
